Sponging Reptile

Hi everyone!  I'm super excited tonight!
My birthday is next week, and we are celebrating it on Saturday.  I have a ton of things to do beforehand, and I wanted to make sure I came up with a fun idea while I had some time tonight.

I started off with three coats of Essie Skirting the Issue, a deep red jelly.

I picked this one immediately to go with my new vampy hair color, thanks to my amazing friend & stylist, Michael.  So in love with my hair, seriously!

Next, I cut a rectangular piece off of a bath loofa, and laid it across my nail so that it stretched out a bit.  I used a sponge with a bit of OPI Skull & Glossbones and dabbed it onto each nail at random.

I repeated this step with China Glaze FYI ...

... and Revlon Stiletto for a little contrast.  I finished with two coats of SV for super shine, and to cut down on the texture.

I initially thought about using one of my reptile stamps for this, but then I looked at my dress and noticed how random and color faded the reptile design in my dress is.

I had a really fun time with this one.  There was really no right or wrong answer for me on this one, and I enjoyed that kind of freedom, since nail art is usually all about precision.

So, let me know what you think!!  Is this one a keeper to match my dress?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!  I hope you enjoy!

Happy Painting!

  5. The red Jelly is amazing. The sponging reminds me of ice crystals that form on glass. Very pretty.
