The Nubbiest of Nubs

Hi everyone!  Remember when I cut my nails off into nubbins last month.  That was the shortest my nails had been in years.  But, I guess things can always get worse, right?!  I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it was the crazy "Go home weather - you're drunk." Georgia climate coupled with some home projects.  My nails became so weak and brittle almost over night, so I had to take them down to nothing.

Part of me has even wrestled with posting anything at all until I got a little growth back, but I don't want to be a fair-weather blogger!!  So here goes nothing ...

I started off with three coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  I always seem to go for whites when my nails are short.  I don't really know why.

I then used my striping brush with Zoya Maya, a soft coral jelly, Layla Misty Blush, a plum holo, Kiss Black, and Kiss Silver to place random stripes down my nails.  I followed with one coat of SV.

I guess I didn't totally realize just how short my nails actually were until I painted them.  Yikes.

I hope you enjoyed this quick mani today.

Happy Painting!

Colors: OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Zoya Maya, Layla Misty Blush, Kiss Black, Kiss Silver

  1. There you go, vertical stripes to make them look longer:) They look really pretty! I guess I'm a fair-weather blogger. I just broke mine and took a week off!

  2. I love the colors you used...For me, it's kind of refreshing to have short nails every once in a while. Sometimes when they're too long, they just get in the way of life! :)

  4. Love this and I think your nails look good at this length. I know you are used to them much longer than this, but I think they look great.

  5. You have beautiful nubs! Perfect nail shape to rock short nails. It's also fun to do nail art designs in miniature, no?

  8. I'm a bit of a fair weather blogger, I had mine down to stubs and waited a week for them to grow out a bit. I also go for white when my nails are short as well.

I quite like My Boyfriend Scales Walls, it seems more wearable than the normal super white whites. (Hope that made sense lol)

  12. I'm glad you didn't wait-I really hate to see bloggers stop blogging just because they broke a nail. This happens in reality and I'd rather seen someone react to it as a grownup! Nubs can and are gorgeous!!

  14. Stripes are really in right now. I'm going to be trying some freehand stripes soon myself. I have a theory about light colors and short nails. It's been my experience that light colors make your nails look longer while dark colors make them look shorter. Course this all depends on skin tone but yours is similar to mine. I also think that classy navy blue creme looks fantastic on short nails!
