Watercolor Zebra

Hi everyone!!  Before I start my normal post jargon, a couple quick things so you don't go all "Wth?!" on me - I think by now it is blatantly obvious that I like to keep my nails long.  I like a bigger canvas, so to speak, and, well, I just like my claws!!  However, there also comes a time when they're too long.  And, at that particular moment, my nails begin to drive me crazy.  For example, a claw to the eyeball when putting on eye liner.  A simple itch turns into what closely resembles a stab wound.  (Yeah, they're that sharp.) And finally, such a difficulty in typing that it turns me into a human Lol Cat.  To be quite honest, I reached that point about a week ago, but I stuck it out for Blog Fest and for one final swatch post.
So, to sum up, that's why my nails are so much shorter.  I realize that this is technically only one thing, in contrast to my "couple quick things" above ... and I also realize that I could have simply said, "I wanted them shorter," as opposed to dragging it out in this long paragraph.  But it's my blog and I'll type what I want to!!

Now then, on to the mani!  I started off with three coats of Essie Lilacism, a pale purple creme.  I followed with one coat of SV.

Using a basic wedge makeup sponge, I dabbed on some random splotches with Sinful Colors Unicorn.

I repeated the step with Maybelline Green with Envy ...

And again with China Glaze Kinetic Candy, followed by another coat of SV.

I then paired Konad Special White with Bundle Monster plate BM-223 for the zebra print design.

Even with my shorter nails, a few of my nails were still a bit too long for the stamp, so I used my smallest striping brush with Konad Special White to extend the lines a bit,

I love the end result!  I am crazy about the white zebra over the pastel blend.  I might have to rock this one for a few extra days for a change!! (And I'll definitely be wearing it on Saturday for International Nail Art Day!!)

I really hope you enjoyed today's post, and my ridiculous ramblings!  Happy Painting!!

  1. So soft and pretty! Love the watercolor under the stripes! :)

  2. Beautiful! I need to try out the watercolor technique :D I absolutely love your nails! I don't think I could ever do anything if mine were as long as yours, LOL.

  3. This is absolutely gorgeous - and very "girly" - definitely saving for inspiration!

  4. wow this is beautiful, it almost looks like tropical water!

  5. It's gorgeous! And hey, I loved your ramblings so keep 'em coming! :)

  6. I love the mani!

And ITA about the time when your nails are 'just too long' - I'm right there myself now and I'm going to cut mine down over the weekend :)

  7. This is such a cool mani, I love the pastel background! I know exactly how you feel haha, I once took a chunck out of my hip with my nail. I just love my squares so much, I can't bear to round them.

  8. Gorgeous as always. Once my Long nails start annoying me I end up cooing the whole lot off and starting again; it's satisfying watching them grow back long again
