Hi everyone! Before we move on to the nails, let's have a little chat, shall we? You may notice that my nails are considerable shorter today. I actually broke my middle nail in June - and by "broke", I'm talking severely broken, like tons of blood severely broken. But, I sucked up the pain and glued it, which was working really well. So, why go shorter, right? Well, enter the speed boat. The sea was angry that day, my friends ... and it took a piece of me. (Just to clarify, when I say "the sea was angry", please translate that to "I'm a complete moron who wiped out big time while tubing behind a speed boat on the lake.") The funny thing was, as I was flying through the air and then plunging into the water, I wasn't thinking about holding my breath or swimming to the surface.
All I could think was "Oh crap, there went my nail."
So, back to the mani ... I started off with two coats of Revlon Hot for Chocolate. This deep brown creme has been in my polish stash for years now, and I've always loved it. It's probably my favorite brown shade. I followed with one coat of SV - and then apparently forgot to take step by step photos. I think my short nails have affected my memory. Oh no! What if the long nails were the source of my powers!? CURTAINS!!!!
For my index and ring fingers, I taped off wide sections and applied one coat of Sally Hansen Coral Reef, followed by one coat of SV.
For my ring finger, I used my dotting tools in a triangular pattern with Sally Hansen Coral Reef and Color Secrets Snow White. For my pinky finger, I paired a small dotting tool with Snow White for a simple polka dot pattern. I finished with one coat of SV.
I hope you enjoyed today's mani, and had a good laugh at my expense!! Happy Painting!
LOOOOOOOVE brown and pink together! that's super cute!
ReplyDeleteand ouch sorry to hear what happen with your nail T.T but I think they also look very pretty shorter!
I think your nails look gorgeous like this! And that mani is really pretty, might take some inspiration out of it!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely~
ReplyDeletesorry about your break :( but i love these nails!
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss Nicole! It could have been much worse though! (I had a friend who really hurt her back 2 years ago from falling while waterskiing and she's still recovering.) I really love this design and I think I am going to have to try it myself! I would be inclined to mattify this myself, I always feel like brown and pink combos should be matte.. not sure why :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, I *almost* did that, but I was in a hurry to get out the door, and just didn't have time! I'm so sorry your friend got hurt. Water sure is unforgiving!
DeleteI love this! And I think the shorter nails look great :)
