Is there a rune for that?

Hi everyone!  For the past several weeks, I have been reading The Mortal Instruments series.  (And now I can't believe I have to wait until May for the newest and final installment.)  I really wanted to do a mani that was inspired by the books!  I still haven't had a chance to see the movie yet, mainly because I avoid movie theaters for, well, way too many reasons to list.
Part of this mani is a teaser preview!  Two of the shades I used are part of the upcoming Scofflaw Nail Varnish Winter 2014 Collection, which releases in January!!

I started off with two coats of Scofflaw Nail Varnish Ruff Tuff Creampuff on my index and pinky fingers, and two coats of OPI Skull & Glossbones on my middle and ring fingers.  I followed with one coat of SV.  I am so mad for Ruff Tuff Creampuff!  It has this really delicate peach shimmer that looks so gorgeous when the light hits it!!

I added one coat of Scofflaw Nail Varnish Happy Little Tree over Ruff Tuff Creampuff, and followed with one coat of SV.  Okay, how freaking awesome are those glitters?!  I'm definitely in love with this one!

Using a porous sponge, I created a subtle gradient on my middle and ring fingers with OPI Skull & Glossbones and OPI Stranger Tides.  I followed with one coat of SV.  It's so awesome how great these two cremes work together, since they're from the same collection and color palette..

I immediately thought of the run symbols from The Mortal Instruments as soon as I saw this Messy Mansion Lily Anna 08 stamping plate, so I paired it with Konad Special Black.  I followed with one coat of SV.

I liked this mani glossy, but I thought it would have more depth if it were mattified, so I added one coat of OPI Matte Top Coat.  *thud*

I love the matte look for this so much!!

I am so crazy about how well all of these polishes worked together!

I hope you enjoyed today's mani as much as I do!  Happy Painting!

  4. Really cool manicure.I think I need that stamping plate even if my stamping looks like a toddler did it. You always have such neat clean stamping! I love it with the matte top. I really liked the books but the movie of the first book was just so so. I really hope they make the next one and do a better job at following the story line.

  6. That looks so cool! I've really been wanting to read those books, but when I checked the first one out of the library someone put a hold on it and I had to return it without reading it...poo.

  7. LOVED The Mortal Instruments book series! These fit them perfectly! (and + points for Scofflaw! Squee!)

Now that you've read The Mortal Instruments, definitely read The Infernal Devices! It takes place many, many years before The Mortal Instruments. It's exciting when you recognize tie ins between the two!
