China Glaze Crinkled Chrome Collection Swatch & Review

Hi everyone!  I have the Crinkled Chrome Collection from China Glaze for you today.
STOP!!!!  DON'T SCROLL YET!!!
Now, I never do this, but, before we begin, pull up a chair and let's have a chat about these.  I'm going to tell you straight up that these weren't immediate favorites for me.  I'm really on the fence about this textured look.  The "crinkle" look is formed by micro and bar glitters within the metallic polish.  I get what they were going for here, but it just doesn't do it for me.
Now then, that being said, let me also point out a few things that apply to all of these shades:
First off, they are absolutely gorgeous in the bottle.  Like big time.  I even really dig the matte silver cap on the bottles.  Second of all, the formula is amazing.  They're all perfectly opaque in just one coat, and I just know they would be such great stamping polishes.  And finally, if you're thinking, "I bet top coat would tone down the texture, like it does in other texture coats!", well, you're wrong.  Top coat actually makes the textured look more defined.  So there are pros and cons all across the map for me.  Let's get to the swatches now ...

Aluminate

Aluminate is a metallic silver crinkle texture coat.  The formula was smooth and easy to apply.

  1. I love the colors, but defiantly not sure about the texture. Maybe they will make the colors w.o the glitters? *Cross Fingers*

  2. I'm really into metallic polishes and I love the colors, but the texture is just not for me =( If only those were "pure" metal polishes, I'd get them all asap!

  3. I love love love the colors but the texture is the worst :( That's the kind of finish I usually try to avoid (kinda bubbly)
You did a great review though with the pros and cons ^.^

    1. This is my thought too! Looks like bad application and what I want to not happen. I'm with everyone else: lovely colors but the finish...no.

  4. You make these polishes look amazing but I'm not keen on the crinkled look at all...

  5. Do you think they would be stamp-able with all the glitter in them?

I agree though - they're absolutely beautiful, except for the texture.

  6. Oo no. Not for me. Whilst I adore OPI ' s sand polishes, I don't like this texture at all. The colours are pretty.... Just don't like this effect.

  8. Great review and swatches! I'm still unsure how I feel about this collection. The finish is so weird, lol.

  9. Yikes! These are probably the most unappealing polishes I've ever seen! Absolutely no reflection on your awesome skills as a blogger. Just really don't like the polish.

  10. They are beautiful colors but I just can't hang with that texture.

  12. This look reminds me of poorly applied polish with all the bumps from air bubbles. Just no.

  14. I recently bought Wrinkling the Sheets because the name made me laugh and because I was intrigued about the effect. I have to say, I'm not sure I'm going to be a fan of it after seeing this post. They look like smudged nail polish to me. Thanks for posting this!

  15. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's so hesitant about this texture stuff. It always reminds me of putting nail polish on grungy nails or something, lol! The colours are nice but yeah... the bumpyness. I just can't!

  16. Nope. I don't like the current textured trend. Loved *some* of the Zoya Pixies and *some* of the OPI Liquid Sand but this? I don't think you could stamp with it, honestly. Too bad. I've been looking at swatches of polishes from over the past 2 yrs and this is definitely NOT a positive step forward for China Glaze :(

  17. I love textured polishes, but I'm definitely not a fan of the crinkled. Those colors are gorgeous though!

  18. No. Although your swatches are great.

  19. Honestly these polishes just make it look like people failed at waiting for their nails to dry and just mashed the polish as a result... shame because the colours are pretty nice... thanks for the swatches!

  20. Whew!!! Finally, a review of a collection that I can totally pass on.

  21. If they made these without the texture/glitter I would get them all! Those colors are lovely.

  22. I can sum up my feelings on this in one word: NOPE. The chrome - maybe. The "crinkled"? Uh-uh.

  23. I am not a fan of the crinkled look. It looks like when you layer polish too quick and get bubbles in between. Not attractive, will definitely avoid these as the colors make them tempting but not the finish!

  24. I think these could be used in some really cool 3D nail art.
