Ovarian Cancer Awareness

Hi everyone!  My husband stayed the night at the hospital last night.  I can't ever seem to sleep very well without him, so I stayed up and did this mani for his mom, and to promote Ovarian Cancer Awareness!

I started with three coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, a great white creme with gray undertones.    This has definitely become my absolute favorite white polish!

I used my striping tape to create different patterns on my nails, with the exception of my ring fingers.  Since the ribbon color for Ovarian Cancer is teal, I decided to use one coat of Hits Hera, a beautiful teal holo.  I removed the striping tape immediately after applying Hera.

Next, I used my medium sized dotting tool with A England St. George, a deep teal holo, to create a dotted frame around my ringer finger nail.

Next, I used my striping brush with St. George to create the Awareness ribbon.  I finished off with one coat of SV.

Thank you again for the amazing amount of prayers and support for Sean's mother.  You have all been so amazing, and your words so uplifting!  I hope you enjoy this one!

Happy Painting!

Fun Forced Mimicry

Hey everyone!  I hope you're all having a great week so far!

I wanted to wear a color that was a little out of the ordinary, but I couldn't narrow it down.  So I went with one that shifts to several colors!

This is three coats of HITS Dreamer, an absolutely amazing multi-chrome that shifts from deep blue to purple to burgundy to orange.  It reminds me of fire!!  I love it!  The formula is pretty good, but took three coats to achieve the desired look.  (And, as I've said before, the HITS brushes from the Mari Moon series left a lot to be desired, but don't really cause too much of an issue.)

I wanted to add some sparkle to this without taking away from the polish itself.  I wanted to add some sparkle that would mimic the shifting effect.  But I didn't have any glitter polishes that would do this.
What's a girl to do?!

I decided to force some glitters to do what I needed them to do!
I used Elixir Lacquers Dakota with Funky Fingers Paparazzi and sponged them down the sides of my nails for a gradient effect, and finished with a coat of SV.

So now, when I move my hand to see the color shift, it looks like the glitter has made the shift as well!

This is actually supremely eye catching and fun to wear!  I love wearing so much glitter that doesn't take away from an amazing polish!

I hope you all enjoy!

Happy Painting!!

Linear Leopard!

Hi everyone!  Happy Pink Wednesday!!!

Since it's such a pretty day here in Atlanta, I thought today's mani was in dire need of a little linear!
I started with two coats of Up Colors Brilho Rosa, a beautiful rose pink linear holographic.

It's a great polish with an easy application.  The linear was definitely present in indoor lighting, but not as strong as a lot of other linear polishes.

Outdoors in direct sunlight was much better, but still did not have the super strong rainbows that are so coveted.

For my accent nail, I applied two coats of Sally Hansen White On, and followed it with one coat of HITS Hefesto, a linear holographic top coat.

Again, while awesome, I still wasn't getting the bright rainbows.

I then used Bundle Monster plate BM221 with Konad Special Black for the leopard print.

With my dotting tool, I placed some small spots within the leopard design with Brilho Rosa to tie the accent nail in with the rest.

I finished with one coat of SV.

While I didn't really get the supreme linear look, I really adore this mani!  It's simple, fast, and fun at the same time!

I hope you enjoy it!

Fog Machines and Laser Rays

Hey!!  I hope everyone had an amazing weekend!
If you have any idea where the title of this mani comes from - then you're stupid awesome!!!

I started with two coats of HITS Trendy, a really fun multi chrome that shifts from chartreuse to gold to green.  I really like this polish.  In some light, it gives you an almost metallic feel, and then it vanishes and you're left looking at another color all together.

I wasn't completely wild about the brush with this one, but it wasn't a huge issue.

Since I would be using scotch tape for the next step, I applied one coat of SV to protect my base color.

Using my small shears, I cut several thin strips of scotch tape and applied them in random places on my nails to create the laser effect.

Then, I applied one coat of Color Club Worth the Revvvolution, a great charcoal holographic.  I removed the strips of tape from each nail immediately after the coat of Revvvolution.  I finished it off with one more coat of SV.

I'm really pleased with the final look of this mani.  It's fun, it's random, and there's no right or wrong to it's creation!  I hope you enjoy it too!

Happy Painting!!

Gradient Linear Holographic Fun!

Hey everyone!!  Yesterday was an awesome nail mail day, thanks to Llarowe!  One of these bits of awesomeness was HITS Hefesto - a linear holographic top coat that turns any polish into a linear!  Anyone who knows me knows I'm a linear lunatic!  So, after a few minutes of thought, my eyebrows looked a little something like this: ~_^

I started with two coats of HITS Demeter, a fun orange holo.

I needed a polish that would be a good go-between for orange and red, so I sponged on China Glaze Riveting for a gradient effect.

I then sponged on HITS Ares on the lower portion of my nail.

For an all over gradient linear look, I then applied one coat of HITS Hefesto!

While it is said that top coats cut down on the linear holo strength, I did finish with one coat of SV, since I had so many coats of polish on.  (The dry time would have been more than considerable without it!)  I honestly did not notice a change after applying my top coat.

I am thrilled with the end result of this!

I cannot wait to see this out in the sunlight, although the sunshine has not paid Atlanta a proper visit all week! But, hey, did that stop me?  No!  Should it have?  Probably!  Hahaha

I hope you enjoy!!!!!
Happy Painting!!!

A Touch Out of Control

Some days, I feel a little like things are just out of control.  Today, they're out of control in a good way!  I mean, come on - Elixir Lacquers went live!  What could be better?!?!

I think I only have one untried holo left in my arsenal, so I decided to grab it!  Here is the macro shot of Hits - Poseidon.

I simply adore this polish!  Completely opaque in two coats, and loaded with rainbows!  I can't wait to see it in sunlight tomorrow!!!

I wanted to jazz it up a little bit, so I decided to go with another untried and chose Dare to Wear - Pillow Talk with Red Angel plate RA-114.

I'm a little tired, since it's kind of been a whirlwind of a day, so this was a great choice since it only took me about 10 minutes!!!!  I hope you like the pattern as much as I do!

Happy Painting ladies!!!!

Start the New Year off with a Bang!

It's a new year!  Time for a new mani design, some new watermarks, and a new polish line!  Yay!!!!  And, I know I've been on kind of a "holo kick" lately, but can you really blame me?!

I started with two coats of Hits Ares, an amazing red holo!

Colors: Hits Ares, Hits Apolo, Sally Hansen Celeb City

After the two coats of Ares, I taped off sections for the Bang! design.  I did this by taking square sections of the tape, and cutting them in half diagonally, for a nice straight point!  Then I added one coat of Apolo - a beautiful deep blue holo, and took the tape off immediately.  On the ring fingers, I taped off the same section, just slightly lower down, and applied one coat of Celeb City, a bright silver foil.  Finally, add a coat of SV!  I really like these a lot, and I hope you will too!!!!  Happy New Year everyone!

Tempting Tigress

A special thanks goes to Amy of I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous for this mani!  I won her giveaway for a gift certificate to Llarowe!  I have been waiting to place my first order with Llarowe.  If you're looking for some amazing polish that you can't seem to find anywhere in the US, then Llarowe is your one-stop shop!!!  I picked out several amazing polishes, but these two had me hooked at first sight!

Macro View: Hits Dionisio & Ludurana Aurora Boreal Holographic Supremo

I have never seen a polish with a stronger holo effect than Supremo.  This lilac shade is soft and dazzling all at the same time!

Dionisio is a gorgeous deep purple holo that keeps drawing my eye to my ring fingers every five seconds or so!!

Since this is my New Year's Eve mani, I thought I'd give my right hand a chance to be famous for once!!!

See how something as simple as a change in lighting completely changes the look of these two colors?!

Colors: Hits Dionisio & Ludurana Aurora Boreal Holographic Supremo

After I stared at these two amazing polishes for about twenty straight minutes, I decided I needed a little artwork (big shock, right?!).  I used my striping brush with Supremo to create some gradual tiger stripes over the Dionisio on my ring fingers.  But, then, something weird happened.  Just as I was about to reverse the color scheme to tiger-ize my other fingers, I stopped.  I couldn't do it.  I could not bring myself to do anything that would take away from the magic that is Supremo.  Let me be clear about something ... This has never happened before.  So here it is ladies, my New Year's Eve mani, and I don't think I could possibly love it more!!!  Happy New Year everyone!!!!
