Spring into Plaid

Hi ladies!  I had a little quiet time this morning, so I thought I'd have a little fun with my striping brush!

I started with two coats of Butter London Muggins, a great soft purple creme.

Then I used my striping brush with Milani Dress Maker, Sinful Colors Unicorn, Sinful Colors Morning Star, and Sinful Colors Flutter. I finished with one coat of SV.

This was a fun and easy look to create!  I love all of the pastels I've been seeing so far this spring!

I hope you enjoy it!

Happy Painting!!!!

Can you even dye my nails to match my gown?

Hi everyone!  Tonight I'm going out for the amazing Mindi's birthday!!  I decided to finally rock my new leopard dress - and my nails just have to match!!!

I started with two coats of Sinful Colors Neptune.  It's a really pretty blue with a light silver shimmer.  The formula was a little thicker than I usually like, but it was easy to work with.  I followed with a coat of SV.

Next, I sponged on sections of Sally Hansen White On & OPI DS Illuminate, and then followed with another coat of SV.

I then used my dotting tool with China Glaze Stone Cold to create some randomly shaped spots to form the inside of the leopard rosettes.

I used my Kiss Black striping polish to outline the rosettes, and then used it with my dotting tool to create some other random spots.

I finished it all off with a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

I really love the final result for this one!!  It's really different and fun to look at!

It was also a very easy one to create, because you're not shooting for line perfection or a lot of blending.

I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do!  And ...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINDI!!!!!!

Sea Urchin Fun

Hey everyone!  Here's a look at the mani I'm rockin at the moment!  My little Evan loves a new show on Disney called The Octonauts - and I happened to see a little sea urchin on one of the episodes!
So here we go!!

I started with two coats of Barielle's A Bouquet for Ava for the ocean water, and Sinful Colors' Zeus for the urchins.

Zeus has an awesome formula and shine to it.  As far as A Bouquet for Ava?  I'm not crazy about it.  The formula is seriously thick, refuses to go on evenly, and dries with a borderline neon finish.  What's that about?!?  OH!  And if you happen to sneeze and get the tiniest bit on your skin ... congratulations!  You're skin is now stained with a less than delightful teal hue.  Grrrrrrreat.  But I do adore the color!

I applied a quick coat of SV over Zeus, and cut small pointed strips of scotch tape for the urchin design.  Once the tape was in place, I added a coat of A Bouquet for Ava, and removed the tape immediately.  Then I finished it off with a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

I used my dotting tool with Kiss Black & Kiss White to create the bubble design by first placing black dots on my nails, and then placing smaller white dots over the black.  I finished this off with a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

I hope you enjoy today's mani!  Sorry my Barielle rant was a bit lengthy.  I don't know if it's me, but I'm just not having a lot of luck with many of their polishes.  Has anyone else had this problem??  I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!!

Happy Painting!

Leopard with Dixie!!!

I happened to see a pair of Dixie's little bows sitting on my vanity.  And so I had immediate inspiration for today's Pink Wednesday mani!!!

I started with two coats of Milani Hi-Res, a really pretty light purple scattered holo.  It's a nice formula that goes on easily and evenly.

This is two coats without a top coat.  Obviously, it's got a lot of shine on it's own!

Next, I used Dare to Wear Hot Fever with my dotting tool, and basically blobbed on some randomly shaped pink spots.

I used Sinful Colors Dream On with my striping brush to created the leopard rosettes around Hot Fever.

I finished off with one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

And, of course, here's my sweet little Dixie in her leopard bows!!

Isn't she the cutest?!?!

It became a little obvious that Kiba, my Shiba Inu, wanted to be famous this time too!!!

They're best friends!

I really hope you like this one ladies!  I adore it!  It was so much fun to create, and even more fun to wear!!!!

See you next Wednesday!  Happy Painting!!

A Blue Bandana

Hi ladies!  Time for another round of Stamping Sunday!!!

I started with three coats of Sinful Colors Cinderella.  It's a beautiful soft blue, packed with tiny flakes that give off a really lovely light peach shimmer.  The formula isn't bad at all, but you will probably need three coats of it to have a completely opaque finish.  I found I still had some light areas with only two coats.

I followed that with one coat of SV to speed up the dry time.

I used Shany plate SH11 for this design with Konad Special Polish in Black Pearl, and finished with one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

The design ended up reminding me of an old style bandana!

I was a little pressed for time today, so this was a quick and easy mani for an on the go girl!

I'll see you next Sunday for more stamping fun!!  Happy Painting!!!!

Glitter can be so per-suede-sive!!

Colors: OPI Here Today ... Aragon Tomorrow w/ Sinful Colors Call You Later

I wanted to do a contrast tonight!  So I grabbed some greens!!  The OPI is a suede finish, which actually looks really cute with glitters.  (And suedes and glitters dry super fast!!!)  The only drag about a suede finish is that you can't use a top coat!!!  I don't know about you, but I feel naked and panic stricken without a full top coat!  Eek!!  But, I guess it's okay since I change polish before I have a chance to chip any nails!!  And you can't get any kinds of lotions on your nails either.  And it doesn't last nearly as long as regular enamel polish.  Okay, maybe there's more than just one drag about it.  But it's cute damnit!!!
